Our promise
Health Guarantee
This page summarizes the Health Guarantee in our Purchase Agreement. Your signed agreement controls.
Every puppy goes home with
- A vet check, deemed in good health at the time of sale
- First shots and deworming up to date
- A puppy kit (usually a toy, a small bag of food, a blanket and paperwork; items vary)
Do I need a vet visit within 72 hours?
Only if your puppy arrives sick or unwell. In that case, have your puppy examined by a licensed vet, at your own expense, within 72 hours of receiving it (or as soon as reasonably possible) to document its condition, and send that documentation to the breeder within 10 days so the guarantee can be honored for that illness.
A healthy puppy does not need a 72-hour vet exam, and skipping it does not void the Health Guarantee, including the one-year congenital guarantee. We do recommend a routine wellness check soon after go-home.
What's covered
- Your puppy is guaranteed to be in good health at the time of sale.
- First 72 hours: if a licensed vet finds your puppy unhealthy or unfit for sale and gives a written statement deeming it "unhealthy for purchase," the puppy may be returned for a full refund, provided it has not been neglected.
- One year: a guarantee against congenital defects. If one occurs, the puppy is returned and you receive another puppy of the same breed when one is available. If a puppy passes away and a certified vet determines and proves the cause is genetic, you receive another puppy of the same breed from the next litter. Vet documentation is required.
What's not covered
- Health issues caused by neglect or injury after go-home
- Minor illnesses and issues such as colds, allergies, external parasites or umbilical hernias
- Medical expenses after the sale
- Training difficulties or behavior problems
- Adult size (we'll share the parents' weights and our best estimate) or fertility
Who honors the guarantee
Every puppy is raised in our home, a Stay Golden guardian home, or by a partner breeder vetted to our standards. Your bill of sale says where your puppy was raised. For puppies raised in our home or a guardian home, Stay Golden Doodles honors the guarantee. For partner-breeder puppies, the partner breeder named on your bill of sale honors the guarantee, and vet documentation and returns go to them.
Your part
- Keep up with vaccinations and deworming, and keep your puppy away from unvaccinated dogs until the full vaccine series is done.
- If you ever can't keep your puppy, don't place it in another home without the breeder's permission, and never surrender it to a shelter.
